Orthochromatic film on Kozo paper

This is the original Washi Film, hand coated on Moriki Paper's Tosa Washi (Kozo). With high sensitivity to blue, less to green and no sensitivity to red light, this film gives best results with urban, portrait and still life photography.

What we think

A true masterpiece by Film Washi's Lomig Perrotin. What a beautiful film, with a coarse fibrous base that will become part of the final image. It brings an unusual depth to some images, an extraordinary texture at the same time coarse and delicate. It requires a little thinking to use at its best, as you need to know in advance what chemical developer you are going to use in order to expose it correctly, as its ISO rating varies according to the pH of the developer.

Recommendations

Because of the artisan nature of this film, we recommend reading the datasheet to check compatibility with your camera and processing guidelines. The film sensitivity rating varies, being dictated by the developer you intend to use.

Processing:  As they are very thin and flexible, paper based films cannot be loaded onto modern processing reels (the spiral in your developing tank). They are not processed commercially in the UK at the moment. Film Washi produce a dedicated kit for home development (click here for details).

Formats: Other formats are available by special order, including 135 format, and sheet film 4x5, 5x7, 8x10 and any other size.
