The gorgeous "1960" Exakta Varex IIa, with waist level finder, made by Ihagee, with CarlZeissJena Tessar lens (50mm f/3.5). Descendant of the 1933 Exakta which was the first ever 35mm SLR.
Condition is overall very good.
Nice metal body part, all shiny without any signs of rust.
Impeccable original leatherette cover.
The camera is a joy to operate mechanically.
Shutter speeds, mirror action, advance film, rewind, all work fine.
The waist viewfinder is bright making all subjects easy to frame.
Unfortunately, the slow speed dial seems to be jammed and is stuck to 9 seconds .( the 9 sec. still can be activated and works great at that setting, but the wheel selection doesnt turn as it should.)
The fitted lens is in good condition with only very minor flaws : some specs present internally, and some very light haze around the front edges. No scratches or fungi are visible. The aperture is smooth, and the blades are clean.
